PORTFOLIO : CRUSH

CRUSH is a market positioning tool that has the philosophy and approaches of marketing guru, Regis McKenna, embedded in its usage patterns. While we don't generally produce stand-alone demo discs, the information architecture and interaction techniques designed by our founding designer, Eric Gould Bear, prior to the formation of MONKEYmedia were so cool that the opportunity to showcase them on a demo CD was hard to turn down.

Radial Menus

Traditional pop-up menus are good for long lists, but radial menus leverage people's innate kinesthetic memory by providing a fixed spatial arrangment of a small set of options. People learn to use this interface incredibly fast and can eventually make choices without fully attending to the screen.

Concrete Interactions

The original design for CRUSH used concrete interactions to invite users to approach their data with clear intentions. The direct manipulation techniques employed gave participants not only complete control of the usage pace, but a more thorough feel for the perspectives embodied in the organization of their data.
